Weekly WordPress News and Updates: WordPress Accessibility Day 2023: A Global Event for Web Inclusion!
WordPress Accessibility Day (WPAD) is a free 24-hour virtual conference that aims to raise awareness and educate WordPress users, developers, and designers on how to make the web more accessible for everyone. The event will take place on September 27-28, 2023, and will feature a diverse and experienced lineup of speakers from 10 countries, covering topics such as usability testing, color and contrast, email accessibility, block editor accessibility, and more. The keynote address will be a conversation between Jennison Asuncion, co-founder of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), and Joe Dolson, an accessibility consultant and co-founder of WPAD. The event will also include live captioning and sign language interpreters, as well as t-shirts for attendees who make a donation.
WPAD has secured nonprofit status through a partnership with Knowbility, an organization that promotes digital accessibility and inclusion. The event is supported by corporate and community sponsors, who have doubled in number from the previous year. WPAD is open to anyone who wants to learn more about accessibility and how to make WordPress websites more inclusive and user-friendly.
