AI WordPress Plugins

Looking to elevate your WordPress site’s user experience or simplify those tedious behind-the-scenes tasks? We’ve got you covered with the ultimate list of AI plugins.

Over the past year, we’ve seen an influx of new AI-powered tools infiltrating the plugin market, many of which offer new and creative ways to harness machine learning and AI models like OpenAI for the good of the WordPress ecosystem.

In this guide, we’ve rounded up the most useful, up-to-date plugins for just about every imaginable WordPress task.

How to Choose The Right WordPress AI Tools For Your Website

1. Features

It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement of AI’s limitless potential and install far more plugins than you really need.

Still, as the old saying goes, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Adding too many plugins for no other reason than to jump on the latest trends in AI is only going to lead to a bloated website, impacting your performance and cluttering up your dashboard.

So, before you dive into the list below, think about the problems you face in growing your website and pick those tools with features designed to solve those problems.

For example, if you’re an expert content creator but struggle with the design aspect of running a WordPress site, you may want to forgo simple text-generation tools and install a plugin that uses Ai to automatically generate page layouts.

Throughout our guide, we’ve included plugins with a variety of features to help with everything from site translations to SEO, from automating workflows to improving accessibility and more.

2. Updates

Out-of-date plugins may be incompatible with more recent versions of WordPress, a common problem that can lead to design and function issues on your website.

What’s more, if a plugin hasn’t been updated in a long time, it may have security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malicious actors.

Updates

This is why you should always check the Last updated and WordPress requirements data on any plugin you want to use. That way, you can trust that the tool you’re using is secure and unlikely to mess with your website.

To prove that we practice what we preach, the list of WordPress AI plugins below was originally longer, but we removed a number of tools that hadn’t been updated since 2003 or early 2004. Given that WordPress 6.6 had been around for a few months at the time of writing, we didn’t want to recommend plugins that were so outdated.

3. Cost

To cater to WordPress users at all levels, our list of AI tools for WordPress includes both free and paid tools. While free services can certainly be useful, you’ll get the most benefit out of the paid tools.

The key thing to keep in mind here is that different plugins tend to opt for one of two pricing models:

  1. Flat Fee – A yearly or monthly subscription through which you can have unlimited use of the plugin’s features.
  2. Credits – Pay for a set amount of credits. Each time you use the plugin to carry out an action, it costs you one credit.

Neither option is necessarily better than the other. It’s simply about determining which is better suited to your needs and your budget.

For example, if you plan to use a plugin on a regular basis, you may get the best value for your money by paying for a subscription, whereas buying credits may be a better option for more sporadic use.

13. WebsiteVoice

Use for: Generating audio versions of your articles
Price: $309 – $529 per year
Free version? 14-day free trial

WebsiteVoice

Creating audio versions of your blog posts and articles can be a great way to boost both accessibility and engagement.

After all, not everyone has the time to read a lengthy blog post, but they may have time to listen to it being read out while they’re driving or working out at the gym. Meanwhile, visitors with visual impairments can still enjoy the same high-quality user experience as those without such accessibility issues.

This is where WebsiteVoice comes in.

The highly customizable plugin provides you with a choice of AI voices that read your content. An audio version of this reading is then added to the relevant piece of content.

Key features include:

  • Create audio versions in up to 38 different languages
  • Customize the style of your site’s audio player widget
  • View analytics to see how many times your audio posts have been played.

The only downside is that WebsiteVoice limits how many text-to-audio conversions can be accessed each day, which may be an issue for larger content sites.

Once activated, this useful feature works simply by entering in a prompt such as “Create a WooCommerce product filter based on custom product attributes,” then sit back and let WPCode do the hard work for you.

The AI code snippet generator also allows you to:

  • Insert generated snippets into your site at the click of a button
  • Apply conditional logic
  • Edit and optimize existing code snippets.

This is in addition to a vast library of free, pre-written snippets that you can use for a variety of functions, ranging from disabling comments to hacking WordPress to allow for SVG file uploads.
