Destiny Kanno talked about BlackPress and BlackPress ecosystem, Black Professional in WordPress community to build, connect with a goal to of bringing the future generations into WordPress. Specifically hitting up HBOUS historically black colleges and universities and going beyond just that too, bringing black youth, into WordPress. The mission is to connect folks that identify as being part of the black diaspora throughout the world

Maestro Stevens shared their deepest thoughts and quoted like: “Take them to church. That’s the culture of BlackPress, take them to church, but in a #WordPress way. This is my family, these are my people.”
“I think that we definitely just need to continue to amplify, you know, our voices. And I feel like this whole room should be filled. I’m calling us all out. Calling myself out.” this is a family, this is a community.

George H. Woodard III: The whole goal behind BlackPress is to bring minorities and underrepresented in tech overall to have a space where, you know, your are not waking into these camps. I think that we definitely just need to continue to amplify, you know, our voices. And I feel like this whole room should be filled. I’m calling us all out. Calling myself out. “The purpose with BlackPress is having that type of group where, hey come on in, You know, you have a tribe. Have a place to sit somewhere that you fell belonging. And having individuals around you!

Ray Mitchelle: We need to be more more proactive about our exposure. And it works as a two-way street. “We have the phrase, or we talk about democratizing publishing. And that’s what WordPress can do. But people have to know that. And the way that we get more people to be a part of our democracy is to get the message out.”
