Weekly WordPress News: Find out more about GitHub CodeSpace

Last Updated on November 21st, 2022

Let’s get to all of this week’s WordPress news…

Helen Hou-Sand, the principal developer for WordPress, has suggested utilising GitHub Codespaces to optimise the contributor experience. The quick launch cloud-based development environment, GitHub Codespaces, is now accessible to all users, with 60 hours of free usage per month for Free users and 90 hours for Pro users. Any GitHub repository may be launched with only one click thanks to Codespaces.

One of the most time-consuming parts of engaging in a contributor day can be setting up a working environment, especially when wi-fi is poor. This was a recent experience for Hou-Sand at the WordCamp US Contributor Day in 2022.

The use of Codespaces to improve the contributor experience gained positive feedback from WordPress developers, and many are eager to contribute to the project and test it once it is complete.
