Lots of themes are responsive but that’s not your only option for visitors on mobile phones. You can also serve up a different theme for mobile browsers – this can work if you have quite a complicated site design and want to simplify it right down. There are a number of mobile only themes and plugins for WordPress which we will take a look at in this post.
To serve a different theme based on whether the visitor is a mobile or desktop user, you can download a free plugin such as WordPress Mobile Pack or Mobile Device Detection, or by simply adding this function to your functions.php file.
