In this Mobile Tabs review, you’ll learn how you can use an affordable WordPress plugin to help both mobile and desktop visitors get in touch with you, as well as provide helpful information to your visitors and drive them towards your most important content.

I’ll share more about this plugin’s features. Then, I’ll go hands-on with Mobile Tabs and show you how everything works on my test site.

Ready to go? Let’s dig in…

Mobile Tabs Review: What All the Plugin Does

Mobile Tabs helps you drive more calls and interactions from your visitors by letting you create a flexible, unobtrusive notification bar.

Despite the name, this notification bar is responsive, so it works great on both mobile and desktop devices.

On this notification bar, you can include a ton of different actions. Some of the most popular options are:

  • Call Now button, which is great for driving more calls on mobile devices
  • Options to chat on services like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, and others
  • Email Now button
  • Address, to open in Google Maps
  • Link to a custom URL
  • Links to your social media profiles
  • Universal social sharing button that lets people share on their preferred social networks
  • WooCommerce cart button, including an option to show the number of items in the cart
  • Featured WooCommerce product popup, including an option for people to add the product to their carts right from the popup
  • Popup contact form, which lets you embed a form from your favorite contact form plugin

You can see an example of what I’m talking about below:

And here’s an example of a more advanced implementation on desktop – you can see both the WooCommerce cart tab, as well as the featured product popup:

The upshot is that it gives you an easy way to enhance the browsing experience for both mobile and desktop visitors. And, especially on mobile, it makes it super simple for people to get in touch with you.

For example, if you’re running a restaurant website, you could include a Call Now button via Mobile Tabs so that visitors are only a click away from getting in touch with you.

Other relevant features include:

  • Integrations with Google Analytics for tracking
  • Ability to exclude certain pages from displaying the bottom bar
  • Support for both RTL and LTR layouts
  • An option to use either text or an icon in the interface (you can also add text in addition to the icon)
  • Ability to upload your own icons

Hands-On With the Mobile Tabs Plugin

Now that you know what Mobile Tabs offers, let me take you hands-on and I’ll show you how it works.

The plugin is really easy to use, and everything is contained in a single Mobile Tabs area in your WordPress dashboard.

Choosing Text Direction and Background

To get started, you’ll want to choose the desired direction for your bar, as well as the background:

For the background options, you can choose from:

  • No background
  • Solid color background
  • Background image

Adding Content to Your Bar

To add the actual content to your bar, you’ll use “Rows”. Each row contains a tab, which you can configure to be pretty much anything:

To get started, you choose the Tab Option, which controls what the visitor sees. You can choose between:

  • Text
  • A pre-configured icon – for example, if you add a WhatsApp chat button, it will automatically use the WhatsApp icon
  • Your own icon that you upload

choose type

Then, you can choose the Type of Tab, which dictates what content is there. Here are all the options that you can choose from:

  • Phone
  • Email
  • Waze
  • Link (to any URL)
  • SMS
  • Location (opens an address in Google Maps)
  • WhatsApp
  • Skype chat
  • Skype call
  • Viber
  • Share
  • Telegram
  • Facebook Messenger
  • WooCommerce cart
  • Popup form
  • Product popup

dropdown

Then, you can choose the Row Name, which depends on the Tab option that you choose. For example, if you chose:

  • Text – you’ll be able to enter the text.
  • Icon – you’ll be able to choose between two pre-configured icons. For some tabs, one of the icons has animation, like a shaking phone for the phone call tab.
  • Upload icon – you can upload your own icon to use.

choose icon

Next, you can set the height of that row in pixels. And finally, you can enter the Tab info which, again, is going to depend on what type of tab you selected. For example, if you chose a…

  • Phone tab, you’ll enter your phone number
  • Address tab, you’ll enter your address
  • Popup form tab, you’ll enter the shortcode of the form that you want to display, and some other settings
  • Share tab, you’ll be able to choose which social networks to let visitors share content on
  • Product popup, you’ll be able to choose which WooCommerce product to showcase

Enter content

You can also enter the text that will display alongside the icon if desired.

For example, if you added 4 rows like this:

Then, you’d see 4 tabs on the frontend. Here’s how it looks on mobile:

Pretty simple, right?

Configuring Some Other Advanced Settings

Finally, Mobile Tabs also gives you some other miscellaneous settings that let you control how your bar looks and functions.

First off, you can change its style and positioning by:

  • Adding a top and bottom margin
  • Changing the font size
  • Setting a custom Z-Index

Then, you can also:

  • Stop your tabs from displaying on certain pieces of content by entering post IDs. This is important because you might not want to have these tabs sitewide.
  • Integrate with Google Analytics to track how visitors interact with your tabs. This helps you optimize your tabs and figure out what information your visitors find most valuable.

Mobile Tabs Pricing

Mobile Tabs offers three different pricing plans, all of which include all the features. Here are the prices:

  • 1 site license – $28
  • 5 site license – $85
  • 15 site license – $115

Final Thoughts on Mobile Tabs

Mobile Tabs is a simple plugin to use, but the tactics that it helps you implement are quite beneficial.

With your tabs/notification bar, you can make it easier for people to contact you and drive people to your most important content.

With options for everything from a simple call now button to more advanced uses like a WooCommerce cart or product, or a popup contact form, you have a lot of flexibility.

I think some more styling options might be helpful, like the ability to use custom fonts or having more control over colors.

But overall, Mobile Tabs is quite easy to use and you’ll be up and running in no time:
