5 Best WordPress Plugins for Mailchimp (Most Are Free)
Mailchimp is one of the most popular email marketing services out there, and with these WordPress plugins for Mailchimp, you can create a tight integration between your WordPress site and Mailchimp so that you can grow your lists in new and interesting ways.
In this post, I’ve collected five WordPress plugins for Mailchimp (with a unique twist), most of which offer a free version so that you can build your list without spending a penny.
Ready to get started? Let’s dig in…
Five Best WordPress Plugins for Mailchimp Users
Below, I’ll share information on each Mailchimp plugin’s features and pricing. These are in no particular order, and you can benefit from different options depending on your need.
At the end of the article, I’ll offer some tips to help you choose the best Mailchimp WordPress plugin for your needs.
MC4WP, short for Mailchimp for WordPress, is one of the most popular WordPress plugins for Mailchimp users. It’s active on over a million WordPress sites and comes in both a free version as well as a premium version with more features.
There are two ways that you can use MC4WP.
First, you can use it to create your own dedicated Mailchimp WordPress forms. The free version only lets you create a single opt-in form, while the premium version lets you create unlimited forms, along with styling them using a style builder.
Second, you can add a Mailchimp integration to other parts of your site. For example, you can add a Mailchimp subscribe option to:
- The native WordPress comment and registration forms
- WooCommerce and Easy digital Downloads
- Other form plugins like Gravity Forms, WPForms, and more.
These integrations help you grow your Mailchimp lists with more than just dedicated email opt-in forms.
If you’re running an eCommerce store, the premium version also adds a dedicated WooCommerce integration that lets you see which products your subscribers purchase and create segments based on buying behavior.
The premium version also adds analytics to help you find your best-converting forms and pages.
You can try the free version at WordPress.org. After that, the paid version starts at $59 for use on a single site.
2. Easy Forms for Mailchimp
Easy Forms for Mailchimp is another dedicated Mailchimp plugin for WordPress.
In terms of features that you get for free, it’s a little more generous than MC4WP.
First off, the free version lets you create unlimited Mailchimp opt-in forms, whereas the free version of MC4WP only lets you create one form.
You can either create dedicated Mailchimp opt-in forms or add a Mailchimp integration to the native WordPress comment/registration forms as well as other plugins like WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, BuddyPress, and bbPress.
You can also view form analytics to see your best-converting forms. All of that is available for free…
If you want more functionality, you can then purchase individual add-ons to:
- Display your Mailchimp forms in a popup.
- Customize the looks of your forms with a form style customizer.
- Send gifts to new subscribers, like a special coupon for your WooCommerce store.
The premium add-ons cost $19.99 to $29.99 each.
3. Your Favorite WordPress Form Plugin
This is a bit of a curveball because I’m grouping a few different plugins together here. But, the fact of the matter is that you don’t need a dedicated WordPress Mailchimp plugin to grow your email list.
Most of the best WordPress form plugins also offer Mailchimp integrations to help you grow your list, though you’ll typically need to pay for the premium version of the form plugin to connect to Mailchimp.
Some of my favorites are:
- WPForms (our review) – includes a Mailchimp integration on the $99.50 Plus plan.
- Formidable Forms – includes a Mailchimp integration on the $99 Basic plan.
- Gravity Forms – includes a Mailchimp integration on the $59 Basic license.
- Caldera Forms – includes a Mailchimp integration on the $99 Toolbelt plan.
- Ninja Forms – can purchase the Mailchimp extension for just $29.
With a dedicated form plugin, you can create simple opt-in forms, but you can also integrate Mailchimp into your other forms as well, like automatically adding people to Mailchimp after they use your custom registration form.
All five form plugins that I highlighted above are high-quality options, so I don’t think you’ll go wrong with any of them.
4. Mailchimp for WooCommerce
Mailchimp for WooCommerce is an official Mailchimp WordPress plugin that helps you sync WooCommerce customer data with your Mailchimp account.
If you’re not running a WooCommerce store, this plugin is not for you. But if you are, you can use it to:
- Sync audience and purchase data.
- Create marketing automation sequences for abandoned carts and other scenarios.
- Send personalized product recommendations.
- Segment customers based on purchasing history.
- Add discount codes.
This plugin is free and comes directly from the Mailchimp team. It has mixed reviews at WordPress.org, but most of the poor reviews seem to be for the older version of the plugin.
5. Mailchimp Forms by MailMunch
Mailchimp Forms by MailMunch is a free plugin that lets you create unlimited Mailchimp opt-in forms, powered by the MailMunch service. MailMunch lets you create forms to collect leads and sync them to a number of email marketing services, including Mailchimp.
While the basic version is free, you also have the option of subscribing to the MailMunch for more flexibility.
With the free plan, you can create unlimited Mailchimp opt-in forms. You can place these forms anywhere on your site and also pass along extra subscriber information beyond just their emails.
If you subscribe to one of the paid MailMunch plans, you can also access features like built-in analytics, A/B testing, and more.
You can get started with the free version of MailMunch at WordPress.org. After that, the paid plans start at $12 per month.
Which is the Best WordPress Mailchimp Plugin
If you want a dedicated Mailchimp WordPress plugin, I think your two best options are MC4WP and Easy Forms for Mailchimp.
In terms of what you get for free, I think Easy Forms for Mailchimp is a little more generous, especially because the free version lets you create multiple opt-in forms.
And if you’re using WooCommerce, the official Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin is also a great option.
Remember, though – you don’t necessarily need to use a dedicated WordPress Mailchimp plugin just to connect your site to Mailchimp.
Depending on the types of opt-in forms that you want to create, you could also use a regular WordPress form plugin or popup plugin, as long as it has built-in integration for Mailchimp.
