Shore is a creative multipurpose WordPress theme. While there are many generic multipurpose themes available for WordPress, this one has a focus to help it stand out from the crowd and has been built to appeal to those crafting a website for a more creative project than just a standard blog, shop, portfolio, or agency homepage.
The theme comes in nine variations, including one page and multipage layouts, and each one can be customized to help you get the right look and feel for your project. Shore also comes bundled with three premium plugins including the ever popular Visual Composer page builder tool and the impressive Revolution Slider.
While Shore certainly sounds great on paper, let’s take a look a closer look at its features and most importantly, how easy it is to use, in our Shore theme review.

Using Shore Creative Multipurpose WordPress Theme
It’s not uncommon to hear from WordPress users who have bought a premium theme after being wowed by the demo, only to discover that setting up their own site to look the same isn’t quite as easy as the promotional materials suggested.
The developers of Shore seem to be aware of this and have included the demo data and theme options files in the theme package. These files can then be imported into WordPress to not only populate the site with demo content, but also configure the theme settings.
Upon activating the theme, you are also prompted to install and activate the required and recommended plugins. This includes the aforementioned premium options. This only takes a few clicks and allows a site owner to install and activate these extra files on their site without much effort at all.
The theme package also includes some clear and detailed documentation. This support material is delivered via a standalone HTML file that contains information covering how to install the theme, setup the structure, configure the options, and then begin creating pages and customizing the content. Having access to this material offline on your computer is preferable to searching online for the different instructions needed to get setup.
Importing Demo Content
If you are using one of the included layouts to build your site, then the first step is to import the demo content for that particular layout.
Once the installer has finished running, you can then move onto working on the theme structure for your site.
As the theme demos are available in one page layouts, with each of the different sections displayed after each other on a long, horizontally scrolling page, the different sections or pages of your website must be connected to a master page.
The process of connecting the pages together uses the parent and child page feature from WordPress. The result of this is that each child page is displayed on the same page as the parent, creating the one page horizontal scrolling effect.
The menu links then automatically scroll down the page to the relevant section when the visitor clicks on them.
This is all covered in the documentation so even if this feature of WordPress is new to you, by following the instructions and using the demo content as an example you should have no problems getting to grips with it.
Once you have set up your site structure you can start working with the theme options to customize the appearance of your website. The demo versions include the theme options as a file which can be imported to your site. This allows you to quickly replicate the settings of the layout you are recreating or using as a base for your project.
While Shore doesn’t use the WordPress Customizer tool, as is becoming increasingly popular with theme developers, the theme options panel isn’t difficult to use. While you don’t get the live preview as you make changes that the Customizer offers, the interface is clear and easy to understand.
Through the theme options panel you get an easy way to customize the following aspects of your site:
- Choose a light or dark colour scheme
- Create a custom colour scheme
- Set the fonts for each element including paragraph and headers
- Customize the menu appearance
- Configure the portfolio and shop settings
- Add custom code
As the theme is built on the Redux framework, you can import any settings for this framework created elsewhere. Alternatively you can export your settings for safekeeping or use on another project.
When it comes to creating the individual post and page content, you get access to the premium drag and drop Visual Composer front end page builder plugin, as well as the Essential Grid plugin for creating advanced layouts.
While you can still use the default WordPress post editor, these two tools give you access to more advanced controls for creating your pages and posts, as well as the ability to insert a number of useful page elements.
