Installing The Theme & Plugins
Once you upload an activate the theme you are prompted to install a number of plugins which are required and recommended :
If you choose the “Begin Installing Plugins” option the theme will install the Page Builder and Revolution Slider which are bundled with the theme and Contact Form7 and Twitter Widget Pro will be sourced from the WordPress directory.
Setup and Demo Content
After installation of these plugins, the next step is to check out the “PMC Themes” menu which contains : Page Builder, Theme Options and PMC Import. With more complex themes such as this, having the importer is really useful as it will import demo content and set the theme up the same as the demo with one click. It should be noted that you should only use this option on a fresh site as it will remove any existing content. The PMC importer will do the following :
- Import Demo Content
- Import Revolution Sliders
- Import and Place Widgets
If you are happy to do this, visit the link and click “Import”
Choosing a Homepage
Now you have the demo content installed, you have a number of different homepage layouts to choose from. To do this visit “Settings” > “Reading” and set the homepage to a static page and choose one of the available layouts from the drop down.
Here is how the homepage big menu looks :
And this is the homepage minimal :
The page builder is where you can create your own page templates for the site or edit any of the pre-configured page templates which ship with the theme. There are many different homepage templates, blog template and portfolio templates to choose from. Creating your own custom template is pretty easy – its just a case of dragging the required elements to the desired position with the template.
On the add new page or post screen you also have the option of adding in these shortcodes by clicking the “Add new Shortcode” button which brings up a similar menu :
The Slider revolution plugin which is included is a powerful slider plugin which allows you to create some nice looking slides with layers, images and text. You would be best to start looking at the sliders that have been imported as a starting point before building your own as they can be quite complex.
This is another very attractive theme from PremiumCoding, it packs a lot of features and customization options in and is fairly easy to setup. A refer to these types of themes like a swiss army knife approach, you can build many different layouts and customize it extensively so at a cost of $48 it represents good value for money as you will be able to use it multiple builds. This is not a theme for minimalists though due to the nature of its extensive array of options.
Design-wise, its a good looking theme which could be used for product websites, business sites and portfolio style sites.
It has great documentation included – a PDF, video and a custom support desk are all available should you need any help settings up and customizing it for your needs.
