Growmatik Review: WordPress Marketing Automation and Personalization
Searching for a way to get started with marketing automation and personalization on your WordPress website?
It helps you easily set up automation rules and segment your customers. Then, you’ll be able to use visual editors to create website personalizations, emails, and popups to connect with your customers.
Overall, I found it to be a very easy entry to marketing automation for WordPress and/or WooCommerce users.

Growmatik Review: A Quick Overview of the Features
In a nutshell, Growmatik is a marketing automation and personalization tool specifically built for WordPress and WooCommerce.
It helps you analyze and segment your customers and connect with them across three “touchpoints”:
- Personalized web content
To customize all three touchpoints, you’ll get visual, drag-and-drop builders. You’ll also be able to easily insert dynamic personalized information in all three tools. For example, if you have a WooCommerce store, you can dynamically insert products that are related to the products that each user previously purchased.
You can also easily set up automation rules using a simple builder and you’ll get other useful tools such as funnel analysis, web analytics, and more. You’ll see these features in more depth in the hands-on section.
Finally, Growmatik is a WordPress-specific tool, so it’s super easy to integrate into your site. All you do is install the plugin from WordPress.org, give it permission to access your site via the WordPress API, and you’re set to jet.
Now, let’s go hands-on and I’ll show you how the different parts of Growmatik work.
Creating Automations With Growmatik
One of the most powerful features of Growmatik is its automation builder. Essentially, the automation builder lets you trigger certain website changes/actions based on tons of different variables.
You’ll be able to trigger your automations by conditions such as:
- Source – e.g. a certain UTM tag or referring URL.
- User information – their physical location.
- Device – e.g. mobile or desktop.
- Date and time
- Whether they’ve visited a certain page
- User behavior – e.g. have they purchased a certain product, clicked/open an email, abandoned their cart, been inactive for a certain amount of time, and more.
- Segment – you can create custom segments to target (more on this later).
- Everyone – you can target all users.
Then, you can choose to perform one of four actions:
- Personalize an existing page on your site. That is, you can change the content of a page but only for visitors who meet your trigger criteria. You’ll get a simple visual editor to make these changes.
- Send an email to visitors based on this trigger. You’ll get a visual email builder and you can include lots of dynamic personalized information in the email.
- Display a popup on your site. You’ll get a visual popup builder to design these popups.
- Show visitors a certain page. You can send visitors directly to a certain page on your site.
When you create automation, you’ll be able to choose from three different types of users:
- Guests – these are anonymous visitors to your site. You don’t have their contact information (so you won’t be able to send emails to this group of users).
- Leads – these are people you have contact information for, but who haven’t made a purchase.
- Customers – these are people who have actually made a purchase in your store.
When you create a new automation, you can either choose from a pre-made recipe or build your own custom rule from scratch.
If you open the pre-made recipes, you’ll see automation for various use cases. For example, you’ll see a recipe to send a follow-up email after a user’s first order that recommends similar products to those that the person ordered:
If you open the custom rule builder, you’ll first choose the “If” trigger for your automation from the list I shared above:
Then, you can choose the “Then” action (depending on your trigger, you may or may not see all four actions):
When you choose the action that you want to take, you’ll see a prompt to open the builder/editor for that action*. Let’s take a look at each option…
*You can also open these editors through a separate “Workshop” area, which gives you another way to create website personalizations, emails, and popups.
Website Personalization Editor
The website personalization is really neat. It lets you change the content on an existing page on your site based on the trigger.
When you choose the page to customize, it will open a live view of that page in the visual editor. Then, you can fully customize all the content on that page using Growmatik’s editor. You’ll be able to:
- Edit existing content/text.
- Delete existing content.
- Add new content using Growmatik’s blocks. For example, if you have a WooCommerce store, you’ll get dedicated blocks to include WooCommerce products. You can even filter the blocks based on the products that each user has purchased/viewed, which opens up some really powerful personalization options.
Here, you can see the personalizer. It’s pulling in the actual design from WordPress:
Let’s say you want to add a personalized product block. You could insert a product block using the visual editor:
Then, you could choose exactly which products to include in that box, including both static and personalized options. For example, you could show different products based on each user such as products that a user has abandoned in their cart or products related to products that a user has already purchased:
You can also enter dynamic keywords in customizing text. For example, you could greet people by name or create a special welcome message if they came from a certain advertising campaign.
The email builder offers the same level of customization, just in email builder format.
You’ll first have the option to choose from a variety of pre-built templates:
Then, that will open the visual, drag-and-drop email builder.
In the email builder, you’ll also be able to dynamically populate text based on user information or shopping activity:
You’ll also get those same options to personalize the content that a user sees. For example, you could include a product block that shows products related to a user’s last purchase or that they’ve abandoned in their cart:
The popup builder functions a lot like the email builder.
To start, you can choose from a variety of pre-made popup templates:
Then, you can customize your popup using the visual, drag-and-drop information. You’ll also be able to insert dynamic information.
For example, you could address users by name, show a special message for people from a certain source (e.g. “A special offer for our Facebook fans”), include shopping activity, and more:
Overall, you can see that, in addition to the visual, drag-and-drop interfaces, the most notable feature in all of these interfaces is the ease at which you can include dynamic, personalized information at any time.
Creating Segments With Growmatik
Another powerful feature in Growmatik is the ability to create segments from your leads/customers. Once you create a segment, you’ll be able to use this segment as a trigger condition for your automations.
For example, you could send an email to people in a segment or show a special popup to people in a segment.
When you get started, Growmatik will create some pre-built segments for you for key groups such as slipping customers and very loyal users:
Then, you can also create your own custom segments by mix-and-matching over 50+ conditions. You’ll get a lot of the same conditions that I showed you in the automation section. You can segment by user information, their referring source, their activity, etc.
For any segment, you can also click a button to set up a new automation with just a few clicks.
Viewing the Customer Journey
To help you understand how people use your site, you’ll get a built-in customer journey/funnel analysis.
As you click on options in the funnel, it will filter the other columns based on that. For example, if you click on the United States in Location, it will filter out only users from the USA and show their path on your website:
Where I think this feature is really useful is that you can use this data to optimize your automations. For example, if you find that visitors from Facebook behave differently than visitors from Google, you could use that knowledge to set up automations that are optimized for each type of user.
Finally, the Reports tab in your dashboard gives you basic web analytics for your site. You’ll be able to see visits, sources, physical locations, bounce rate, etc.
Growmatik has pretty generous pricing terms.
First off, all the plans include all features, which is pretty rare in this space. A lot of other tools lock advanced features behind higher tiers. Additionally, there are no extra fees for things like SMTP usage or geolocation usage.
Basically, the price you pay includes everything. The only variables that affect how much you pay are:
- Visits. A visit is defined as an entire browsing session, not individual page views. So if one user lands on your site and immediately browses ten different pages (within 30 minutes), that’s still only one visit because it’s a single browsing session.
- Contacts. This is the number of people whose personal information you’re storing.
- Emails. This is the number of emails you send per month.
There’s a generous free plan that allows:
- 10,000 visits
- 2,000 contacts
- 15,000 email sends
Again, even the free plan includes every single feature.
After that, the paid plans start at just $10 per month. You can use the pricing calculator to find the exact price that you’ll pay based on entering your estimated contacts and visits:
If you need to exceed your plan’s email limit, you can also just pay $0.80 per 1,000 emails that you send over your plan’s limit.
Final Thoughts on Growmatik
Overall, the thing that stuck out at me the most with Growmatik is how easy it made it to set up automations on WordPress.
I’ve used other tools in the past, but none of them felt as easy to get started with.
For example, the website personalization tool is dead simple. The content comes in straight from WordPress and you can edit it just like you were using a page builder plugin.
This type of tight integration is the benefit of using a WordPress-specific solution like Growmatik rather than trying to go with some standalone tool that may or may not play nice with WordPress.
Beyond the ease of use, the pricing structure is also generous. Every plan offers all the features, even the free plan, which makes advanced features still accessible to people on a tight budget.
