20+ Blogs About WordPress Active in 2019
These are in no particular order…
1. WP Beginner
If you’ve Googled anything about WordPress, you’ve probably come across WP Beginner because it ranks near the top of many WordPress queries.
It’s been around for about 10 years and still going strong with tons of fresh content. You’ll find plenty of tutorials, list posts, and other resources.
One of my favorite parts of WP Beginner is that they have lots of more niche tutorials for smaller topics that you won’t find on other WordPress blogs.
2. WordPress Tavern
WordPress Tavern is a more journalistic-style blog focused on WordPress news, rather than tutorials and extension roundups.
If you want to keep up to date on the latest WordPress updates or news in the WordPress business space, it’s a great place to check in once a week or so.
They also do real reporting and break stories, which is another reason WordPress Tavern has become so popular.
ThemeIsle is both a WordPress theme and plugin shop as well as a popular blog about WordPress.
They publish four new posts every week ranging from WordPress tutorials to posts about applying marketing and SEO principles to your WordPress site.
4. WP Explorer
WP Explorer is another popular WordPress blog that’s both a theme/plugin shop and a content source (you’ll notice that this is a bit of a trend).
They share a bunch of great WordPress content across six categories:
5. WPMU DEV
WPMU DEV sells a popular membership that gives access to their huge suite of plugins. They’re also the makers of the massively popular Smush image compression plugin and, as you can probably guess, they have a blog about WordPress that shares lots of great content.
One thing I like about WPMU DEV is their really long, in-depth tutorials on important WordPress topics.
WPShout is a popular WordPress blog that’s more focused towards developers and power users. While they cover general topics like choosing the best WordPress hosting, you’ll also find a lot of development tutorials and tutorials on more technical topics like the WP Cron function.
WP Shout also puts a large emphasis on trust and authenticity, which you’ll see if you check out their best hosting provider roundup.
7. Elegant Themes
They also have a popular blog about WordPress that shares tons of tips, tricks, and plugin/theme roundups.
One nice thing about the Elegant Themes blog is that their posts usually have a very active comments section, which can expose you to some interesting viewpoints beyond the author’s ideas.
8. WP Mayor
WP Mayor is a longstanding blog that posts a variety of WordPress tutorials, reviews, and plugin lists to help you navigate the world of WordPress.
One nice thing about Kinsta is that they get into more technical subjects as well, so it’s a great spot to enhance your WordPress knowledge once you’ve got the basics down.
10. Delicious Brains
If you’re a developer or of a more technically-minded bent, Delicious Brains is a great blog for you. They’re always publishing in-depth tutorials on important development topics, and they also have a great series on how to host WordPress yourself.
It’s not a good spot for beginners (that’s not their focus), but if you want to dig deep into the WordPress platform, this is definitely one to pay attention to.
CodeinWP is a popular blog that publishes more in-depth tutorials and comparisons for various WordPress topics. They also touch on design and development, and they publish a really big survey each year about the WordPress hosting space.
13. WP Superstars
WP Superstars’ tagline is “WordPress. Simplified”, which is a pretty good idea of what they’re trying to accomplish. There, you’ll find the standard mix of tutorials, roundups, and reviews for various parts of WordPress.
14. WP Buffs
WP Buffs is a WordPress maintenance service, but they also have an active blog about WordPress. They post a lot of in-depth tutorials for various parts of WordPress, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the business of running a WordPress business.
WebDevStudios is a WordPress agency that helps develop WordPress websites for businesses. As part of that, they have a lot of WordPress experts in one spot, and those experts share their knowledge on the WebDevStudios blog.
Long story short, add this one to your rotation if you run a WooCommerce store.
Torque is a WordPress blog/magazine run by the folks at WP Engine, one of the most popular managed WordPress hosts. In addition to tutorials and tool roundups, they also have some neat regular features like Torque Toons, a collection of cartoons about WordPress, and Doc Pop’s News Drop, a fun roundup of the latest WordPress news.
18. Create and Code
Create and Code is a WordPress theme shop that also publishes its own blog with a variety of WordPress tutorials, reviews, and roundups.
19. Tom McFarlin
If you’re a WordPress developer, you’ll definitely want to check out Tom’s blog, where he posts a variety of code tutorials related to WordPress and other dives into the technical side of WordPress.
Last but not least, there’s us – WPLift! Here at WPLift, we post tons of tutorials, reviews, and lists to help you get the most from WordPress.
