Creating a Backup

Backuply gives you the option to back up your site manually or schedule automated backups.

If you take the manual approach, the steps to back up are as follows:

1. Open the plugin’s dashboard.

2. Decide what you want to back up (directories, databases, or both).

3. Click “Create Backup.”

4. Wait for Backuply to create a backup.

5. Click “Finish.”

Backuply also offers the option to “Kill Process” should you decide to stop backup creation for any reason.

If you want to create automated backups, head to the Backuply Settings Tab. Within ‘Auto Backup Settings’, a drop-down offers interval and rotation choices.

Pick your preferred time gaps for backups. Also, decide on the max backups to retain. After all that’s done, click ‘Save’ to finalize.

Concerned about storage space? The Backup Rotation feature ensures older backups get replaced by newer ones, so you won’t run out of space.

You can also view the created backup in the “Backup History” section of the plugin. From here, you can restore, delete, or download the files depending on your needs.

Choosing Your Backup Location

Backuply supports up to 13 remote backup locations. You can use popular choices like Google Drive, Dropbox, or cloud solutions such as AWS. Platforms like DigitalOcean Spaces and Cloudflare R2 storage are also compatible. If you’re on Backuply Pro, remember you have 10GB available on Backuply Cloud.

Restoring Your Site

To restore, simply pick the backup you’ve saved, hit ‘Restore’, and let the process run. Every backup with Backuply is saved in a single tar-formatted archive file. This makes it universal and allows for manual restoration on different systems if needed.

Using Backuply Cloud

The Backuply team also offers a cloud solution where you purchase backup space and all data stored in the cloud. It’s ideal for those who want peace of mind that their data is kept in a secure location.
