Its been another good month here on WPLift – traffic levels continue to recover from Google Penguin and we hit a new record for income. I did read some worrying things this week though, apparently Penguin 2.0 is coming which Matt Cutts has described as “Jarring and Jolting” and an update that “Webmasters don’t want”. Sounds great doesnt it ? Hopefully this won’t affect me as I dont do any shady SEO things but you never know as this site got caught up in the last update. We shall wait and see … Here’s the stats for August.

Income
In this section, all display advertising at the moment is handled through BuySellAds. For the affiliate income, there were 30 different sources linked through various posts. If you want to know more about how I monetize the site & which plugins I use, see the article I wrote about affiliate links.

- Total Income: $4003.94 (+791)
Conclusion
Any month with a traffic increase is good – allthough we’re not back to the levels we were at, Im pretty confident we will by the end of the year (providing Google doesnt do anything stupid again!). Income has been great this month – setting a new record and breaking the $4k mark almost entirely via affiliate links is good going. We’re diversifying the income with it coming from over 30 sources this month – Im glad we’re helping to drive traffic to WordPress services, plugins and theme providers.
The current design is long overdue a rehaul now – its coming on for 2 years old now – I need to stop procrastinating and get it done allready! My aim is to launch it by the end of the year, I dont want to rush it though as it will probably be with us for another 2 years.
