With the addition of Post Formats in WordPress 3.1, WordPress is looking even better than ever to be the basis for a “Microblog” or “TumbleLog” but just what is a Microblog ?

Microblogging is a broadcast medium in the form of blogging. A microblog differs from a traditional blog in that its content is typically smaller in both actual and aggregate file size. Microblogs “allow users to exchange small elements of content such as short sentences, individual images, or video links”. As with traditional blogging, microbloggers post about topics ranging from the simple, such as “what I’m doing right now,” to the thematic, such as “sports cars.” Commercial microblogs also exist, to promote websites, services and/or products, and to promote collaboration within an organization.

The Post Formats feature in WordPress 3.1 allows theme designers to display posts different, depending on which format is chosen. The new formats are : aside, gallery, link, image, quote, status, video, audio and chat. More info at the Codex.

The idea of Microblogging might appeal to you if you dont have enough time to maintain a full blog and you are probably allready used to doing it if you use Twitter regularly. So, in this post Im going to be looking at the free and commercial themes for WordPress to help you run your own microblog. At the moment, options are quite limited for free themes – hopefully that will change when WordPress 3.1 is released (currently in beta).

I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how
    you presented it. Too cool!

Your favourite reason seemed to be at the net the easiest factor to understand
of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed whilst other folks consider concerns that they just do not recognise about.
You controlled to hit the nail upon the top and outlined out
the entire thing without hawving side effect , folks
can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more.
    Thanks
