Thanks everyone who downloaded this and helped spread the word!

I’m proud to announce the release of my first Free WordPress theme; Busby …

Busby is a clean personal blogging theme with it’s own options panel built with the UpThemes framework. I’ve been working on this for a while now, it’s quite a different experience building a theme which will be released publicly rather than one for my own or client’s use. There are a lot more things to take into account and lots more testing to do.

As with any first release, there will be some bugs to work out (if you find any, please let me know) and I have some more featured planned to add to the theme – custom widgets for things like displaying twitter and some shortcodes. I will update the theme as and when bugs are found and I plan to submit it to the WordPress theme repository.

Photos used in the demo are by my friend Tom Eversley, check out his portfolio if you need a creative / photographer.

  1. Hey Oli – theme looks great. Good job!

I particularly like the cleanliness of the design, and the colour choices work really well.

  2. WOW! Nice job Oliver. I like the clean materialistic feel of the theme.
It deserved to be featured on LatestWP’s Crème de la Crème section on the front page.

Here’s a link to the post:

You can also find it on the home page as well.

    Cheers! :)

  3. I love the theme! And thank you so much for allowing it to be free. I’m just having trouble making the posts show up as full text instead of summary. I have the Reading settings to display as full text but it still shows only a summary. Any ideas?

  4. Sorry my code didnt show up,  if you contact me with your email address I will send you a file to update.

  5. Do I need to get the UpTheme framework in order for this to work? I’ve uploaded it but I keep getting 404 errors. It tries to reach /wp-admin/admin.php?page=upthemes automatically when my WordPress installation is on a subfolder. The theme files is installed on it’s correct folder.

  7. Hi! :)

I’m in love with the theme, but I really want to know how I cand configure it to show the complete posts on homepage. Could you help me with that?

    Thank you!

  8. Ben, have you tried uploading via FTP and activating ?
