I’m proud to announce the release of my first Free WordPress theme; Busby …
Busby is a clean personal blogging theme with it’s own options panel built with the UpThemes framework. I’ve been working on this for a while now, it’s quite a different experience building a theme which will be released publicly rather than one for my own or client’s use. There are a lot more things to take into account and lots more testing to do.
As with any first release, there will be some bugs to work out (if you find any, please let me know) and I have some more featured planned to add to the theme – custom widgets for things like displaying twitter and some shortcodes. I will update the theme as and when bugs are found and I plan to submit it to the WordPress theme repository.

This theme is released under the GPL 2 License which means it is free to download and use for yourself or clients and modify it anyway you see fit.

I am looking at using your theme for our site. I currently use bueno from woothemes. Can I show true view of the post on the homepage as I do with my site currently http://shortdailydevotions.com. What I mean is, if I make the h4 tag and then put in quotes, it shows in the post on the homepage instead of all the text looking the same and not showing the correct spacing and sizing. I hope that makes sense

Oli, I have searched through a lot of free themes lately and this is by far one of the best I have come across, infact this looks a lot smarter than quite a few paid themes, great work!
I love the theme! And thank you so much for allowing it to be free. I’m just having trouble making the posts show up as full text instead of summary. I have the Reading settings to display as full text but it still shows only a summary. Any ideas?

Do I need to get the UpTheme framework in order for this to work? I’ve uploaded it but I keep getting 404 errors. It tries to reach /wp-admin/admin.php?page=upthemes automatically when my WordPress installation is on a subfolder. The theme files is installed on it’s correct folder.
No, it’s included in the zip file.
Just upload via Appearance > Themes > Install Themes > Upload
Then activate it and should be fine.

Download this file and unzip it – http://wplift.com/content.zip
Then upload the file “content.php” to your theme directory, overwriting the one in there.
That will then display full posts instead of the excerpt – Ill look to getting this built into the theme as an option.

Ben, have you tried uploading via FTP and activating ?
Yeah I get the same message. Does the version of WordPress or php I’m running matter to the theme? Is there anything I need to be running first before I upload the theme?
What version of PHP and WordPress are you using ?
WordPress 3.2.1 & PHP5
I uploaded it again via FTP and when it was done I tried to preview it and in the preview window it said “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
Hmm, so its a permissions thing.
You should log via FTP and check the permissions are correct on your WordPress folders.
I’ve check everything folder I can think of and all are set to 755

That circle is an image, you can change it if you have photoshop or smililar, its in the img folder :

I wasn’t aware of upthemes before this. Really like the ability to control things through the admin panel instead of diving into php files.
I noticed that upthemes has a layout section that is not showing up in the busby admin panel. How can I turn that on to do some adjusting (would like to make it a touch wider).

Hi Oil, first of all, amazing theme, truly amazing, the option to handle typography in the backend makes me drool, can’t really believe that this is not standard in wordpress already.
I would like to know how to add other text areas besides widget titles and headings to the typography interface, i saw the link at the bottom to create your own settings, but how do i connect my new “custom selector” to an html value? For example, i would like to redefine how standard text look like, also the “quotes”, could you please help me out? It Would be really nice if the custom selector also included color.

Permission on all folders 755 (tryed with 777 and 750 too)
Via wordpress, I choose busby1.zip and I install your theme. All ok. No error message. But when I try to preview… “you do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” (in italian, of course). But what page?
Obviusly I tryed to:
- copy via FTP folder busby1
- rename busby1 to busby
- delete (both via wordpress and via FTP) theme and/or folder
Nothimg ;-(
I don’t know what else do…

how nice template, i really like this template but i had 1 problem with the date at my main page why it became “undefined” how can i fix it?
People with the undefined date problem are using the blogger theme which I didnt create – I just made the WordPress version so I dont know about that problem.
