Pinterest is the latest social network that is currently gaining a lot of attention online, its signing up many individuals and brands at a fast rate. I have created a profile which you can follow here but I’ve yet to start using it properly. So just what is pinterest ? I’ll let them explain …
Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
As with most social networks there are a number of free WordPress plugins to allow you to integrate this into your site, here I present 5 free ones you can use today…
Pin It On Pinterest
Pin It On Pinterest places a “Pin It” button at the end of your posts, and allows you to predetermine what gets “Pinned” at Pinterest.
Pinterest Pinboard Widget
This plugin adds a Pinterest widget much like the pinboards on Pinterest. It uses the original thumbnails from Pinterest itself. The plugin aims to have the same look and feel as the pinboords on Pinterest.
Pinterest RSS Widget
This plugin allows you to place a widget on your sidebar that fetches the most recent contents of a Pinterest user’s RSS feed and displays the corresponding thumbnail images. You can choose whether to show the description below the image, and you can set the height and width of the thumbnails to fit your theme.
Pretty Pinterest Pins
This plugin allows you to display thumbnails and links to yours (or anyones!) latest Pins from Pinterest in your sidebar. It is styled after Pinterest and offers a clean and modern look to show off your pins.
Pinterest “Pin It” Button
The visual bookmarking site Pinterest is exploding in growth! Encourage your readers to pin your content with this simple “Pin It” button.

Crappy name, nothing special.
I recently join Pinterest! Its literally amazing photo sharing site! Thanks for its plugins :)
Thanks for recapping the plugins! Do you know of any social share plugins that *include* pinterest as opposed to having it as a separate plugin?
Yes, a few do,
Use this search query at WordPress.org and you will see them – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=pinterest
I would like a plugin that enables integration of your pins in the page – both plugins on here work in widgetized areas only LOL… This would work well for my resources page… in addition I can’t wait for a similar tech IN our websites :-)
Wow, that’s a cool
